People News

Bob Hulse, a geologist with MAP Production Company in Tyler, Texas, will join the PTTC Board of Directors, officially representing the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). He replaces Presley Connie Hudson who will serve as AAPG’s Alternate to the PTTC Board.

Ernest A. Mancini, director of PTTC’s Eastern Gulf region and professor of geology at the University of Alabama, was presented the Distinguished Educator Award by AAPG. It is presented to members who have made outstanding contributions to geological education both at the university level and toward the general public.

Charles J. Mankin, director of PTTC’s South Midcontinent region and the Oklahoma Geological Survey, has been given an honorary membership award by AAPG. It is presented to members who have distinguished themselves through their service to the profession of petroleum geology and to AAPG.

Barry Russell, president of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), will join the PTTC Board of Directors, officially representing IPAA. He replaces Gil Thurm on the PTTC Board, who resigned as IPAA president in March.


Photo - Scott TinkerScott Tinker has become director of PTTC’s regional lead organization for Texas. He was recently named Director of the Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG) at the University of Texas in Austin, replacing William Fisher. Before joining BEG, Tinker was an Advanced Senior Geologist at Marathon Oil Company in Littleton, Colorado. His specialty is designing and managing multidisciplinary reservoir characterization studies of large fields. Tinker has served as a Distinguished Lecturer for AAPG and received its J.C. “Cam” Sproule Memorial Award. He received a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, an M.S. from the University of Michigan, and a B.Sc. from Trinity University.
