Oil Odyssey 2000 - IOR Technology for the New Millennium Symposium

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the US Department of Energy’s National Petroleum Technology Office (NPTO) are co-sponsoring the Twelfth Improved Oil Recovery Symposium on April 2-5, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Oil Odyssey 2000—IOR Technology for the New Millennium will offer independents, as well as majors, a look at the latest improved oil recovery (IOR) technology available.

Combining social events (such as the Beer ‘n Bratwurst Party) with an in-depth technical program and exhibits, the IOR Symposium should be valuable to anyone interested in the newest technology available.

New to the Symposium is a special half-day "Independents IOR Forum," aimed toward smaller operators, service and supply companies and con-sultants (See speakers below). PTTC’s North and South Midcontinent Regions are sponsoring the forum in conjunction with SPE and DOE. Scheduled for April 4, it will focus on field-tested technologies relevant to midcontinent operations.

The three-day conference will bring together experts from around the world to address both technical and economic advances in IOR technolo-gy, including such topics as gasflood-ing, reservoir evaluation and engi- neering, history matching, and hori-zontal wells.

Throughout the symposium, many companies will be exhibiting the latest in IOR products and ser-vices. The Exhibitor Technology Update Series will showcase exhibitors with products specific to IOR opera-tions. This will be an opportunity for both exhibitors and attendees to benefit from informa-tion exchanges.

The Symposium will be preceded on April 1-2 by six short courses on a variety of top-ics and a field trip cosponsored by the Tulsa Geological Society. Registration information and a com-plete list of exhibitors are available at the official web site of the sympo-sium: www.npto.doe.gov/ior.

Registration is $140, with proceed-ings available on CD-ROM for $80. Fees for the social functions and field trips are available on the web-site. Registration for the Independents IOR Forum, which includes access to all Symposium activities on April 4, is $40.
