Field Measurement/Automation Operating by Exception Increases Production
Operating by exception relying on real-time data from automated fields increases
production. When operating by exception, field and engineering staff can focus
their efforts only on wells or parts of the system needing attention. Producers
using
eLynx Technologies
system noted the following: "improved efficiency and increased daily production
by 20 to 25 percent, "allowed the field personnel to operate by exception, which
in turn has increased our production by 3 to 5 percent". PTTC is certain that
producers using systems developed by other vendors have similar verifications.
The key point is—gathering and working with real-time data makes $ and cents.

Highlight:
Funding Opportunities Forthcoming by Mid-Summer, Microhole and Field Technology
Development w Independents
DOE recently
alerted industry to forthcoming funding opportunities within two of their
programs.
Microhole Technology Development
--
to enhance Coiled Tubing Drilling capabilities. Up to $6 million, 20% minimum
cost share required. Up to 12 awards expected.
Field Technology Implementation with
Independents
--
to demonstrate advanced or underutilized technologies (advanced chemical
recovery techniques and advanced reservoir characterization technologies) in oil
fields operated by independents. Funding estimate not available, 50% minimum
cost share required. Up to 5 awards expected.
Be thinking ahead how funding might leverage existing plans or create
opportunities for you.

National Webcast, Thu. May 27, 10:30 am Power Consumption Reduction Case
Studies
Watch producers
and vendors report on case studies of power reductions achieved through
installation of various types of equipment, pulling from a database of 160 wells
where data were gathered as part of an energy efficiency rebate program through
the California Public Utility Commission. Topics include pump-off controllers,
variable frequency drives, line loss reductions, submersible pump operations and
more. Participate individually or gather a few like-minded associates to view
the
Webcast.
A phone call-in line will be provided so you can pose your questions to
speakers. This 3-hour workshop is co-sponsored by PTTC's West Coast Region and
Global Energy Partners.
Trivia
Question:
What
product did the man whom college football's most prestigous award, the Heismann
trophy, is named after help make for the early oil industry in Pennsylvania?
Trivia Answer:
John Heisman, for whom the Heisman trophy was named after,
worked for his father in the Stephens and Heisman Cooper Shop in Titusville,
Pennsylvania. Among other things, the Shop made wooden barrels for those
producing oil in the Oil Creek area. Acknowledgment: Idea for this trivia
question stimulated by information provided by the
