Technology—The Engine That Drives O&G Production

Industry Highlight: Lower Cost POC System for Marginal Wells
eProduction Solutions (Houston), which began field testing its lower cost iBEAM rod pump controller system in January 2003, rolled out the new system to industry during June. iBEAM features cableless installation, load and position technology, integrated communications, wireless control and low maintenance. Beyond incentives, early adopters have the opportunity to shape system refinements.

DOE Highlight: Lowering LNG Costs, Gasification & Salt Cavern Storage
A recently completed DOE-supported study by Conversion Gas Imports, LLC (Houston) indicates that the Bishop process, which involves unloading and re-gasifying LNG directly from tankers for storage in nearby salt caverns, could lower LNG terminal development costs by half and provide twice the capacity of a conventional LNG terminal. Key to the process is a low cost, high volume seawater heat exchanger that can keep up with tanker offloading rates. Field tests to determine critical elements for operational success are being planned.

PTTC Highlight: Regional Activity Sustained at Record Levels
PTTC regional workshop activity through mid-year indicates that FY03 activity (ends 9/30/03) will achieve record levels. Activity is one measure, but it is impact that counts as operators take action with the technologies they are learning about through PTTC. PTTC encourages you to check out the regions where you operate to learn what is available, see what is happening and discover how we might help with technology decisions you face. PTTC's success depends on committed volunteers. If you are interested, contact PTTC to see how you can become directly involved.
