DOE Highlight: DOE Names 7 Carbon Sequestration Partnerships
Following through on a late 2003 initiative, DOE named 7 regional partnerships of state agencies, universities and private companies that will form the core of a nationwide network to determine the best approaches for capturing and permanently storing greenhouse gases. Overall, the partnerships include more than 140 organizations spanning 33 states, three Indian nations and two Canadian provinces.

PTTC Highlight: Southeastern Louisiana's Shallow Gas Potential
This recent study, developed by Don Goddard and Ron Zimmerman of Louisiana State University, outlines E&P opportunities in the shallow Miocene. Reported production has ranged between 100 and 600 Mcfd. The study presents the overall geologic framework with particular emphasis on depositional environments and trapping mechanisms.
