OERB Approaching 5,000th
Abandoned O&G Site Cleanup Milestone
Since being formed in 1993, Oklahoma's Energy Resources Board (OERB) has worked
hard in energy education and environmental cleanup. Mike Terry, Executive
Director, recently announced that voluntary industry contributions through OERB
will, in the very near future, have cleaned up 5,000 abandoned well/lease sites
in Oklahoma. The education component is working equally well with 1/2 million
students in Oklahoma having been exposed to O&G education and, through an
aggressive public information campaign, a 78% improvement in public perception
has been measured.
