Industry Highlight: New Filter for Low-Pressure Sour Gas
Desert Energy Equipment, Inc., Odessa, Texas (ph 432-381-3321) recently released its X-Cube filter for removing H2S from low-pressure sour gas. The sour gas is flowed through a solvent inside the cube, where the hydrogen molecules bond with the solvent. The only maintenance is to drain the used solvent and replace it with a fresh supply. The technology is proven but had never before been miniaturized.

DOE Highlight: Proposals for DOE's Broad-Based O&G R&D Solicitation Due Feb. 10, 2004
In a broad-based proposal, DOE is seeking proposals in four areas:

  • Area 1: Drilling Technologies for High Speed Downhole Motors

  • Area 2: Advanced Diagnostics and Imaging

  • Area 3: Reservoir Efficiency Processes

  • Area 4: Deliverability Reliability for Natural Gas

  • Proposals require 20% cost share. See solicitation documents for further detail.

PTTC Highlight: Live Webcast From California, Economic Optimization in Marginal Fields (Dec. 18, 2003 - starting at 9am Pacific) This Anniversary Forum of PTTC's West Coast Region addresses economics issues affecting marginal wells in California, and in reality in many parts of the country. Learn the effect of economic cycles on economic evaluation. Regional tech transfer awards will also be given for technology providers whose efforts positively impacted California O&G operations.
